October 14, 2004--Blue Water Bridge traffic at Port Huron continues to move slowly as a result of a labor dispute in Canada. The backup on the United States side is several miles long and traffic is experiencing waits of several hours. The Michigan Department of Transportation and the Michigan Department of State Police are advising motorists to look for alternate routes, or if possible, to delay travel plans that would take them into the vicinity of the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron. No indication is given of when the work slow-down (called informational pickets) by Canadian workers will end.
Traffic delays at the Detroit Windsor Tunnel and the Ambassador Bridge are minimal at this time, but traffic delays may result due to changing conditions at border crossings.
Motorists traveling toward the Port Huron/Blue Water Bridge area are advised to expect delays.
