BACKGROUND: MDOT is investing $2.3 million to study future traffic needs at the Blue Water Bridge Plaza. The Blue Water Bridge is the second busiest U.S./Canadian border crossing for commercial traffic and the fourth busiest overall between the two countries.
The meeting is an open-house style format encouraging the public to stop in, meet with officials, and view and comment on the Illustrative Alternatives developed for potential Plaza improvements. The Illustrative Alternatives are conceptual layouts for these improvements and include proposals to expand the plaza at its current location and the potential relocation of the plaza facilities to a location in Port Huron Township. The study began in September 2002 and is expected to take 24 to-36 months to complete. Further information is available at
