BACKGROUND: MDOT is investing $3.15 million to study the future traffic needs on the Blue Water Bridge Plaza. The Blue Water Bridge is the second busiest U.S./Canadian border crossing for commercial traffic and the fourth busiest overall for total traffic between the two countries.
The meeting is an open-house style format to encourage the public to stop in, meet with officials, and view and comment on the three updated alternatives still under consideration for potential plaza improvements. The alternatives are detailed layouts including expanding the plaza at its existing location, and potential relocation of plaza facilities to Port Huron Township.
The study began in September 2002 and is expected to take up to 36 months to complete. Further information is available on the Web at www.michigan.gov/mdotstudies.
