At the request of the Federal Highway Administration, MDOT has prepared a supplement to the initial Environmental Assessment prepared for improvements to the I-196 Chicago Drive (Baldwin Street) interchange in Grandville and Georgetown Township. The supplement describes and analyzes rehabilitation of an adjacent two-mile section of I-196 between Kenowa Avenue and Chicago Drive. The supplement describes the construction alternative, potential impacts, and the measures taken to minimize harm to the project area. Use the following links to access the document and appendices. MDOT has encouraged public involvement during the EA process, including conducting a public meeting and hearing, and providing study information and opportunities for comment at www.michigan.gov/mdotstudies. Under federal and state policy, any citizens who would be affected by the proposed project may request, in writing, that a formal public hearing be held concerning the social, environmental and economic effects of this proposal. Those agreeing or disagreeing with the determination set forth in the EA, or those requesting a public hearing are invited to furnish comments summarizing the specific substantive and factual basis for such support or opposition. If the study finds no significant impact from the proposed supplemental improvements, the EA will be forwarded to the Federal Highway Administration with a recommendation for issuing a Finding of No Significant Impact.
