MDOT conducts applied research to find innovations that will improve the state's transportation system. The Research Administration section recognizes that a complementary component of research is learning how others have found solutions to transportation challenges similar to Michigan's.
During the course of the research cycle - from program development to implementation - the Research Administration section seeks to identify and take advantage of regional, national and international best practices. Its goal is to find the best ways to meet MDOT's needs throughout the organization and around the state. While recognizing the best practices of others, the Research Administration division also showcases examples of how research is being successfully implemented in Michigan to other agencies.
