Design Build Background

MDOT has had a varied program of design/build contracts for more than 15 years.

In 2008, MDOT proposed and contracted with their first design/build/finance contracts. These two contracts included construction and design services as well as the contractor supplied financing to be reimbursed over the next few years.

With the ARRA, the Department moved to quickly utilize the design/build tools to allow full utilization of available funds.
