System Profile 
Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) was established on February 1, 1985, combining the former Leelanau County Public Transit (formed November 16, 1981) and the City of Traverse City Dial-A-Ride (formed May 28, 1974).  BATA, an Act 196 authority, comprises all of Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties as of June 1, 1998.  In addition to its regular service, BATA provides transportation for the senior center, and essential transportation for persons with disabilities.  BATA provides both demand-response and line haul service.
