All single trip transport permits must be applied for electronically directly from the Michigan Department of Transportation. This option requires that an account be opened with the MDOT Transport Permit Unit and that certain requirements be met including submitting a minimum number of permit applications per month.
The Michigan Permit Administration and Routing System Web (MIPARS) permit application software is a web based program that can be run on most computers using the Windows XP or Windows Vista operating system.
You may also obtain a single trip permit through a permit service. These services submit permits electronically as described above, and then forward them onto their customers. These services charge a fee over and above the official cost of the permit. A list of permit services may be viewed by clicking on the following link: Permit Services and click here for a Transport Escort Company
A single trip permit may also be received by walking in to one of MDOT Region or Transportation Service Center (TSC) Offices.
