BACKGROUND: This project will increase safety at the intersection by eliminating existing conflict points that are the result of motorists making direct left-turns from Kennely Road to eastbound M-46. Work is expected to begin Wednesday, Sept. 21, and take approximately five days to complete. These temporary improvements will include:

Installing flexible posts to channel traffic;
Signs and pavement markings to prohibit direct left turns from southbound Kennely Road to eastbound M-46;
Requiring motorists to turn right to access westbound M-46,
then use the crossover at West Gloucester to access eastbound M-46;
MDOT will post signs to close the crossovers.

Permanent changes for the intersection are planned for 2015.

MDOT says: Construction work zones need your undivided attention.
