May 29, 2013 -- Eastbound I-696 will be closed from the I-96/I-275/M-5 interchange to US-24 (Telegraph Road) the weekend of June 7-10 for pavement repair, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). Weather permitting, the closure will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and end by 5 a.m. Monday. Closing eastbound I-696 will allow this work to be done as quickly as possible and minimize the impact on future weekends.

During the closure, eastbound I-696 traffic will be detoured to eastbound M-5, then eastbound M-102 (Eight Mile Road) to northbound US-24 (Telegraph Road), back to eastbound I-696.

Beginning Monday, June 3, eastbound I-696 will have multiple lanes closed during the overnight hours from the I-96/I-275/M-5 interchange to Telegraph Road in order for crews to prep for the upcoming closure. Overnight lane closures begin at 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. the following morning until Friday, June 7.
