September 24, 2013 -- A project to reconstruct the I-94/I-69 interchange in Port Huron Township will begin on Monday, Sept. 30, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). Single-lane closures will be put in place on I-94, between Range Road and the Lapeer Connector, and on I-69, between Range Road and I-94, to allow for temporary shoulder widening for traffic shifts and future reconstruction. The lane closures are expected to be removed by the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

In addition, crews will close the eastbound I-94 ramp to westbound I-69 until fall 2014. During the ramp closure, the planned detour will direct traffic to continue on eastbound I-94 to the Lapeer Connector, and then westbound I-94 to access westbound I-69.

This project includes reconstructing I-94 in each direction between Lapeer and Griswold roads, and I-69 in each direction between Range Road and the interchange. In addition, six bridges in the interchange will be replaced. All work on this $76 million project is expected to be completed in late 2015.
