BACKGROUND:
MDOT will be investing $15.1 million to resurface US-12 between Gates and Ecorse roads, and Wiard Road between US-12 and Tyler Road in Wayne and Washtenaw counties. Included in this investment is changing the configuration from a boulevard to an undivided road on US-12 between Ecorse and Airport Industrial Drive, and on Wiard Road between Tyler Road and US-12. Other improvements include:

  • Repair of  three bridges along US-12;
  • Construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Wiard Road and Airport Drive, and
  • Operational/safety improvements to the intersections of US-12 at Dorset Avenue and M-17.

The changes will result in two-way traffic sharing the eastbound lanes of US-12 and the southbound lanes of Wiard Road in the vicinity of the American Center for Mobility at the former Willow Run plant.
