April 4, 2012 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) encourages all Michigan motorists to sign up to receive free traffic alert e-mails at: http://1.usa.gov/qZzuHo. The alerts will show traffic restrictions due to incidents, emergency situations, upcoming planned construction or events that impact the normal flow of traffic. The e-mails are designed to be clear and concise, with the location and type of restriction in the subject line: Ramp closure: NB US-131 to EB I-196, Kent County, Date. This allows subscribers to quickly see if the message applies to them.
Subscribers can tailor their e-mail alerts by county from a list that includes: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Ottawa, St. Joseph and Van Buren.
