HIGHWAY: Westbound I-94 over Hawkins Road, and Hawkins Road
CLOSEST CITY: Jackson
STARTING DATE: Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 9 p.m.
COMPLETION DATE: Early November, 2006, weather permitting
PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is repairing
the Hawkins Road bridge over westbound I-94, east of Jackson.
The work is needed to replace a damaged bridge beam which will
require westbound I-94 to be closed for one night, and traffic on
Hawkins Road to be detoured until early November.
RESTRICTIONS: The detour on I-94 will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. and
will reopen at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20. The detour route for
Interstate traffic is westbound I-94 BL (Michigan Avenue), onto
northbound US-127, back to I-94. This closure is needed to
facilitate the removal of the existing beam. Once the beam has
been removed, there will be occasional daytime single lane
closures on westbound I-94 until the project is completed.
In addition, Hawkins Road over I-94 will be closed and detoured
for the duration of the project. The posted detour route is I-94 BL
(Michigan Avenue), to Dettman Road, to Seymour Avenue. Note:
Eastbound I-94 will not be affected by this work.
