The State Transportation Commission (STC) has elected Commissioner Todd Wyett of Charlevoix and Bloomfield Township as vice chairman.January 30, 2012 -- The State Transportation Commission (STC) has elected Commissioner Todd Wyett of Charlevoix and Bloomfield Township as vice chairman.

"Todd is a tremendous advocate for transportation," said Jerrold M. Jung, chairman of the STC. "His experience in the areas of economic development and transportation is a valuable asset for the Commission."

Wyett is co-founder and CEO of Versa Development. He has developed industrial, commercial and multi-family residential properties in Michigan. Gov. Rick Snyder appointed Wyett to the STC in January 2011.

"I appreciate my colleagues' support in electing me to this position," Wyett said. "Gov. Snyder has elevated the transportation debate here in Michigan, and I look forward to doing my part to ensure transportation dollars are being spent efficiently and to help promote the governor's transportation agenda."

Wyett previously served as chairman of the State Waterways Commission and as an executive board member of the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

In Oakland County, Wyett chaired the Lyon Township Downtown Development Authority from 1995 to 2005, and served on the Oakland County Business Roundtable's transportation committee in 2000 and 2001. He has served on the Oakland County Sheriff's Advisory Council since 2001.

The six-member STC establishes policy for the Michigan Department of Transportation and all state transportation programs. Its responsibilities include developing and implementing comprehensive transportation plans for the entire state, including aeronautics, bus and rail transit; providing professional and technical assistance; and overseeing the administration of state and federal funds allocated for these programs.
