M-43 (Saginaw Street) bridge replacement project

WHAT: Open house-style meeting to discuss reconstructing the M-43 (Saginaw Street) bridge over the Grand River in Lansing. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, March 5 (weather permitting) with eastbound M-43 detoured at Grand Avenue. Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and City of Lansing officials will be available to answer questions.

BACKGROUND: In addition to reconstructing the bridge and widening the sidewalks on the bridge, the project involves changing Saginaw Street between Washington Avenue and Cedar Street from the current five-lane configuration to four lanes, and improving the city of Lansing's River Trail under the bridge. The River Trail is currently detoured at M-43.
MDOT reminds drivers: Snowplows need room to groom.
