About this Bridge:
Built in 1885, the Martin Road Bridge is a single-span, pin-connected, Pratt through truss structure. It is one of the oldest metal through truss highway bridges in Michigan. It was constructed by the Mt. Vernon Bridge Company of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, one of the more important Ohio-based metal truss bridge firms of the nineteenth century. This is the only known surviving example of this firm's work left in Michigan. It is currently closed to highway traffic.
