Residential Architecture

Architecture was influenced by fashion and style just as other aspects of life. This was played out throughout the 1800s, as styles came and went. Achieving acceptance, popularity and then fading away to be replaced by the latest vision of "home".

By the beginning of the 20th century, residential architecture styles had changed the landscape of the United States, and were giving way for the next wave of modern architectural fashions.

Fortunately, most communities still have examples of the various styles, so we can appreciate what was once a common sight.
