Commissioner Sharon Rothwell, (R) of Ann Arbor, was appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder effective Dec. 28, 2011.
Ms. Rothwell is the vice president of corporate affairs for Masco Corp., a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Taylor. She is responsible for overseeing community and charitable engagements as well as representing Masco in government relations and civic activities. She also chairs the Masco Corp. Foundation.
Prior to joining Masco in 2003, Ms. Rothwell served as Gov. John Engler's chief of staff, director of the Office of the State employer for the State of Michigan and state personnel director for the State of Delaware. In addition, she was the vice chair of Gov. Snyder's transition team.
Ms. Rothwell holds a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently serves as vice-chair of the Michigan Manufacturers Association and is on the board of directors of the Cultural Alliance for Southeast Michigan, the University Musical Society, Carolina Performing Arts, the Harry A. and Margaret D. Towsley Foundation, the Foundation to Reinvent Michigan, the Humane Society of Huron Valley, New Urban Learning and the Inforum Center for Leadership. She also serves on the public affairs steering committee and key votes advisory committee of the National Association of Manufacturers.
Ms. Rothwell's commission will expire on Dec. 21, 2014.
