Mentor Michigan Census

Mentor Michigan Census The Mentor Michigan Census (MMC) is a survey of organizations operating mentoring programs in the State of Michigan.

The primary purpose of the MMC is to understand the scope and nature of mentoring and mentoring organizations in Michigan. Specifically, there are three key objectives:

  1. Identify, count, describe, and track mentoring organizations, programs, mentors, and mentees.
  2. Understand program components, processes, resources, and needs.
  3. Encourage and support program evaluation.

Organizations that are registered with Mentor Michigan are eligible to complete the MMC.  If you run and mentoring program and would like to register it with Mentor Michigan,  visit the Mentor Michigan Directory .


Wave VI Information

In Wave VI of the MMC, conducted in the fall of 2008, 143 organizations in Michigan responded:


Wave V Information - REVISED
 

After the results of Wave V of the Mentor Michigan Census (MMC) were released, Mentor Michigan learned that one of the 136 programs that responded to the MMC inadvertently made an error in reporting their data.  We asked Kahle Research Solutions to recalculate the MMC results.  In doing so we were also able to add four mentoring organization's information that came in after the initial MMC deadline.  Below you will find links to the revised Wave V documents.

Wave IV Information

In Wave IV of the MMC, conducted in the fall of 2006, 137 organizations in Michigan responded.


Wave III Information

In Wave III of the MMC, conducted in the fall of 2005, 123 organizations in Michigan responded.


Wave II Information

In Wave II of the MMC, conducted in the spring of 2005, 136 organizations in Michigan responded.


Wave I Information

In Wave I of the MMC, conducted in the fall of 2004, 105 organizations in Michigan responded.

Geographic Area Information

Executive Summary - The Executive Summary gives an overview of the Wave I results broken down by geographic area.

Demographic Profile Table - The Demographic Profile Table provides information on mentor and mentee gender, age, and race broken down by geographic area.

Funnel Measures Table - The Funnel Measures Table provides information on the MMC Funnel Measures broken down by geographic area.  Funnel Measures are identified as key steps in the recruitment and mentoring process to be measured. Funnel Measures include the number of inquires from potential mentors, number of written applications, background check processes, training process, number and type of mentoring matches, duration and intensity of matches, and mentors repeating the mentoring experience or referring others to become mentors.

Organizational Profile Table - The Organizational Profile provides information on the organizations that run mentoring programs broken down by geographic area.  This includes the type of organizations, kind of mentoring programs, budget size, staffing, board of directors, etc.

Comparing Community-Based and School-Based Programs

Executive Summary - The Executive Summary gives an overview of Wave I results comparing community-based and school-based programs.  The definition of a program as school-based or community based is based on the organizations' self-report as entered into the Mentor Michigan registry.

Demographic Profile Table - The Demographic Profile Table provides information on mentor and mentee gender, age, and race comparing community-based and school-based programs.
