MICHIGAN GAMING CONTROL BOARD

RESOLUTION NO. 2002-01

A Board Resolution Acknowledging The Contributions and Accomplishments of Former Board Member and Chairperson Thomas G. Denomme and Commending Him For Distinguished and Honorable Service to the Michigan Gaming Control Board and thePeople of the State of Michigan

WHEREAS, the Michigan Gaming Control Board was statutorily created and

charged with the responsibility of administering and enforcing the provisions of the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, as amended, Public Act 69 of

1997, relating to the proper licensing and regulation of casino gaming in the

City of Detroit, as authorized by the Act; and,

WHEREAS, Thomas G. Denomme was duly appointed to serve a four-year term as a charter member of the first appointed Michigan Gaming Control Board and also designated as the Board's first chairperson by the Honorable John M. Engler, Governor of the State of Michigan, on December 20, 1996, with the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Denomme diligently and faithfully completed his first four-year term as a member and chairperson of the Michigan Gaming Control Board and was, thereafter, duly reappointed by Governor Engler to serve a second term as a member and chairperson of the Board; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Denomme effectively led the Board, as its chairperson, in developing and proposing necessary amendments to the original voter-initiated Act that authorized casino gaming in the City of Detroit, in order to ensure sufficiently stringent licensing standards and adequate Board authority to properly and effectively license and regulate casino operations to keep them free of corrupt influences and protect the public interest; and,

WHEREAS, Chairperson Denomme also led the Board in developing and promulgating necessary administrative rules to effectively implement and administer the amended Act, and also presided over the required background investigations and licensing proceedings for each of the three licensed Detroit casinos authorized by the Act, as well as their initial employees and suppliers; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Denomme never missed a Board meeting and served the Board and the People of the State of Michigan with honor and distinction during his tenure as a member and chairperson of the Board; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Denomme's dedication, integrity, fairness, astute leadership, keen insight and prudent judgment as a member and chairperson of the Board are well-recognized and appreciated by his Board colleagues and by the People of our State; NOW THEREFORE,

IT IS RESOLVED that the Michigan Gaming Control Board HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES AND COMMENDS Thomas G. Denomme for his diligent public service and many valuable contributions and accomplishments as a member and chairperson of the Board from December 20, 1996 through February 6, 2002, and extends to Tom our very best wishes for continued happiness, success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
