Resolution # 2003-04 (Adopted 9/9/03) - To Acknowledge The Contributions and Accomplishments of Deputy Director Nancy L. Horton And Commend Her For Distinguished and Honorable Service

STATE OF MICHIGAN

MICHIGAN GAMING CONTROL BOARD

 

RESOLUTION NO. 2003-04

 

  A Board Resolution Acknowledging

The Contributions and

Accomplishments of Deptuy Director Nancy L. Horton

And Commending Her For Distinguished and Honorable

Service to the Michigan Gaming Control Board

and the People of theState of Michigan.

 

WHEREAS, the Michigan Gaming Control Board was statutorily created and charged with the responsibility of administering and enforcing the provisions of the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, as amended, Public Act 69 of 1997, relating to the proper licensing and regulation of casino gaming in the City of Detroit, as authorized by the Act; and,

 

WHEREAS, Nancy L. Horton was hired in 1997 by the Executive Director Nelson Westrin to serve the Michigan Gaming Control Board as its first Deputy Director of Administration; and,

 

WHEREAS, Nancy Horton effectively served the Board as its Deputy Director of Administration, acted effectively and efficiently in her staffing the new agency as well as, planning, developing and implementing the various office buildouts from the Abbott Center in East Lansing to the Brewery Park, Kahn and Cadillac Buildings in Detroit. Nancy Horton’s consistent and conscientious leadership was a positive force in completing the administrative vision of the new Type 1 agency; and,  

 

WHEREAS, her excellent insight and judgment successfully carried out the agency’s responsibilities to oversee the 17 Native American casino locations throughout the state of Michigan; and,

 

WHEREAS, Nancy Horton served the Board and the People of the State of Michigan with honor and distinction during her tenure as the Deputy Director of Administration; and,

 

WHEREAS, Nancy Horton's dedication, integrity, fairness, astute leadership, keen insight and prudent judgment as the Deputy Director of Administration are well-recognized and appreciated by her staff, colleagues, and the members of the Board and by the People of our State; NOW THEREFORE,

 

IT IS RESOLVED that the Michigan Gaming Control Board HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES AND COMMENDS Nancy L. Horton for her diligent public service and many valuable contributions and accomplishments as an employee from 1997 through July 2003, and extends to Nancy our very best wishes for continued happiness, success and fulfillment in all her future endeavors.

 

ADOPTED AND ISSUED THIS 9TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2003
