Does the MGCB regulate Native American casinos?

No. Native American tribes are sovereign nations. The MGCB has no regulatory authority over tribal casinos. However, Tribal-State Compacts (written agreements between the tribal communities and the State) give the State the authority to inspect and monitor Native American casino operations to determine compliance with the Compacts. That responsibility was then assigned by the Governor to the MGCB staff
