  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Admnistration. This website provides tips on managing anxiety in times of crisis. There is information tailored to children and adolescents, adults, and disaster/emergency response workers.

  • Tragedy Assistance Program. This service provides support to individuals grieving the death of a loved one serving in the uniformed services.

  • The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This is a 24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention service available to anyone in suicidal crisis. If you need help, please dial 1-800-273-TALK (8255). You will be routed to the closest possible crisis center in your area. Call for yourself, or someone you care about. Your call is free and confidential.   • Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. This service provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. 

  • Michigan Crisis Response Association. Listing of Michigan CISM Teams. Use this number for team activation or locating a team in your area: 1-800-969-0025 (your call will be answered by Life Care Ambulance in Battle Creek).

  • Crisis Care Network (CCN). This organization provides disaster mental health services to employers, EAPs and insurers in need of assistance following critical incidents. Businesses and organizations can call 1-888-736-0911 to contract services for their employees.  CCN has disaster teams that provide services onsite and a web-based crisis coach service. CCN is not a crisis hotline for the general public.

  • National Organization for Victims Assistance (NOVA). Victims or communities wanting assistance may call (800) TRY-NOVA (879-6682) at any time for information and emotional support.  For information on NOVAs National Crisis Response Team, please call 1-703-535-NOVA.  NOVA will send a crisis response team to any community in crisis within twenty-four hours of a request.  There are three primary tasks the team performs:  1) Helping local decision-makers identify all the groups at risk of experiencing trauma  2) Training the local caregivers who are to reach out to those groups after the CRT has departed  and 3) Leading one or more group crisis intervention sessions to show how those private sessions can help victims start to cope with their distress.

  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The purpose of the FEMA crisis counseling program is to help relieve any grieving, stress, or mental health problems caused or aggravated by the disaster or its aftermath. These short-term services, provided by FEMA as supplemental funds granted to State and local mental health agencies, are only available to eligible survivors of presidentially declared major disasters. Those who may require this confidential service should contact FEMA's toll-free helpline number 1-800-621-FEMA (TTY 1-800-462-7585) to find out where these services can be obtained.

  • Sidran Institute. This organization's trauma resource specialists can help you find resources to aid your progress toward recovery. This service is offered to you at no charge.
