How to Recruit Interns

Overview
Every year representatives from different organizations contact the Career Services (CS) at Colleges and Universities expressing a need to fill job vacancies.  They recruit students and graduates in a number of different ways:

  • Information Tables:Representatives will informally meet with individual students at a table in the career centers to discuss the organization and available employment and career opportunities.
  • Socials:An informal gathering with food and beverages sponsored by the organization to provide an opportunity for informal conversation with their representatives.
  • Information Sessions:Representatives will formally present information about the organization and opportunities in a group session in specified locations.

Campus Interviews (Traditionally referred to as "On-campus recruiting") Representatives will interview one-on-one individuals who meet the qualifications for specific job and career opportunities. The interviews are generally "screening" or preliminary interviews and last approximately 30 minutes.  Candidates who match the qualifications that organizations are seeking during the preliminary interview will often be invited to the company or organization for a second interview.
