First Michigan Infantry Regiment
In 1861 President Abraham Lincoln called for volunteers to fight in the Civil War. This is the flag of the first regiment to leave for the war from Michigan. The regiment fought at Bull Run in Virginia. This flag was captured. In 1886 the flag was returned to Michigan.
