Fifth Michigan Cavalry Regiment
This flag belonged to the Fifth Michigan Cavalry from the Detroit area. The First, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Cavalry regiments made up the Michigan Cavalry Brigade commanded by General George Custer. The flag is called a "swallowtail guidon" because of its shape.
