How a Bill Becomes a Law

State Capitol
Bills are introduced at the State Capitol where members of the Michigan Legislature work.

If you have an idea for a law, you can send a letter, e-mail or visit your local Legislator to get him or her to sponsor your idea in a bill. A State Representative or State Senator must sponsor and introduce bills.
