Trees in the Environment
If trees do not get enough sunlight, water or nutrients, the tree will weaken and become unhealthy. Trees may be growing too closely together, creating competition for sunlight, water and nutrients. If this occurs, some of the trees will die, resulting in less competition for the remaining trees. The trees that are alive will be better able to grow and be healthy. If a tree does not get enough sunlight, water or nutrients, it becomes stressed. When this occurs, disease and insects may invade the tree, making it unhealthier. Lightning strikes, storm damage, droughts and floods can also make trees unhealthy.
