- Temporary supports will be installed to stabilize the University Drive bridge over I-75.
- I-75 remains open under University Drive; drivers still able to exit onto University Drive.

January 21, 2014 -- A Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) crew performing routine bridge inspection has discovered a critical condition with the beams on the University Drive bridge over I-75, requiring an immediate closure until temporary supports can be installed.

MDOT estimates the temporary supports to be installed within the next week, allowing University Drive to reopen. In the meantime, I-75 remains open under University Drive and motorists can still exit the freeway onto University Drive.

Once the temporary supports are put in place, MDOT will further assess the bridge condition and determine a permanent repair solution.

MDOT says: Drive like you want to make it home tonight.
