Snyder makes reappointments to Asparagus Marketing Advisory Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Eric Herrygers, of Hart, and Sarah Greiner, of Hart, to the Michigan Asparagus Marketing Advisory Board, which develops and implements asparagus marketing programs.

"Michigan’s agriculture is the second most diverse in the nation and asparagus is an important crop to our state," said Snyder. "I thank Eric and Sarah for serving on this board as we continue to promote Michigan as an agricultural leader.”

Herrygers has owned and operated Herrygers Farms LLC for more than 30 years. It is a fourth- generation farm that farms over 600 acres of tree fruit, asparagus, and Christmas trees. He serves on the Farm Service Agency, Oceana County Soil Conservation District, Oceana County Farm Bureau Board, and the Elbridge Township Planning Commission. Herrygers holds an associates degree in automotive technology from West Shore Community College. He will continue to represent Northern-Central Michigan Growers.

Greiner is an owner and operator of Todd Greiner Farms Packing, LLC, as well as a staff radiology technologist at Mercy General Health Partners. The farm grows fruits, vegetables and evergreens. They also operate a fresh asparagus packing facility. Greiner holds an associate’s degree in allied health from Grand Rapids Community College. She will continue to represent Northern-Central Michigan Growers.

Members will serve three-year terms expiring Nov. 13, 2016. The appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
