April 8, 2014 – The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has summarily suspended the license to practice as a physical therapist of Vishnu Pradeep Meda, P.T., of Madison Heights, Michigan, after his convictions in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.
On November 12, 2013, Meda was convicted of one felony count of Health Care Fraud Conspiracy, two felony counts of Health Care Fraud, and two felony counts of False Statements. Meda was sentenced to prison for a total term of 46 months, and ordered to pay an assessment and restitution totaling $841,050.42.
On March 31, 2014, LARA issued an order summarily suspending Meda’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory suspension of a health professional upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance related conviction.
