Every August, Governor Jennifer M. Granholm and First Gentleman Daniel G. Mulhern welcome a variety of new art to highlight Michigan's exceptional art talent into their home. The artistic talent in Michigan is beautiful and compliments the Residence wonderfully. The artwork is viewed by the first family as well as the guests of the Governor's Residence year round. Every year there is a call for entry for artists currently residing in Michigan, or born in Michigan, to submit works in all media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and ceramics. After all entries are received, the Governor and First Gentlemen work with a host gallery to select the artwork hat will be showcased. Every fall there is a special reception to honor the Michigan artist participants.
