Cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills Community for a Lifetime Leadership Team

The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging approved recognition to the Cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills for the Elder-Friendly Community Assessment completed by the Farmington Area Commission on Aging - Community for a Lifetime Leadership Team. Some of the strengths the Community for a Lifetime review panel noted included the following:
  • There is an annual repair program that updates all sidewalks continuously.
  • Needs of older adults are addressed in city Master Plans.
  • Good information access to older adults through website, resource directory, and flyers.
  • Fire Department offers continuing education on aging issues to its employees.
  • Several events celebrating the area's cultural heritage are sponsored by the community.
  • Looking at opportunities for broadening the whole community's awareness, understanding, and celebration of the broad cultural diversity that exists.
