| Cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills Community for a Lifetime Leadership Team |
The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging approved recognition to the Cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills for the Elder-Friendly Community Assessment completed by the Farmington Area Commission on Aging - Community for a Lifetime Leadership Team. Some of the strengths the Community for a Lifetime review panel noted included the following:- There is an annual repair program that updates all sidewalks continuously.
- Needs of older adults are addressed in city Master Plans.
- Good information access to older adults through website, resource directory, and flyers.
- Fire Department offers continuing education on aging issues to its employees.
- Several events celebrating the area's cultural heritage are sponsored by the community.
- Looking at opportunities for broadening the whole community's awareness, understanding, and celebration of the broad cultural diversity that exists.
