Washtenaw County - Blueprint for Aging

The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging approved recognition to Washtenaw County for the Elder-Friendly Community Improvement completed by the Blueprint for Aging, "Aging With Attitude" Art Exhibit. Some of the strengths the Community for a Lifetime review panel noted included the following:
  • Creative and positive ways to address stigma, ageism, and preconceived views of aging.
  • Invited and involved the whole community in rethinking aging.
  • Celebrated diversity of gifts of aging and diversity of aging experience.
  • Involved new connections between outside artists nationally, local artists, local community residents, and young persons.
  • Reached out beyond the normal aging service network to establish new connections and support for community improvement.
