The Elder Rights corner is a combination of programs and information designed to improve the lives of persons living in Michigan. Older persons have the right to make their own choices and remain indepedent. Older persons have the right to live in dignity and safety, and free from mistreatment. The Michigan Office of Services to the Aging offers information and services on elder abuse and prevention, legal assistance and advice, long term care ombudsmans services, and health benefits information through the Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program.

How We Work!
The Older Americans Act, as reauthorized in 2005, focuses the aging network on two key policy and program issues: long term care and healthy aging. The Act promotes coordination among various service systems at the local and state levels to provide an array of supportive services for target populations.
