Life Skills (sm)

Ordering Instructions


Life Skillssm is a flexible educational program that will equip your institution to educate students to manage their time and money wisely while they attend your school, and after graduation.

  1. Guidelines: ALL eligible postsecondary schools in the state of Michigan are qualified to receive materials and participate in the Life Skills program.

    All orders will be sent via UPS Ground Delivery, please order at least two weeks in advance of when you will need the materials.

  2. Materials: The following materials are available for order:

    Program Components. These may be ordered separately depending on the school's needs. See the comments in Italics for ordering suggestions.

Student Skills Books and Activity CDs for Undergraduates - five separate books, one for each module; modules are ordered separately. One Activity CD with Intro and Advanced Budgeting games and quizzes for modules 1-5. Books and CDs are ordered separately and are sent in packets of 10; (e.g., if you need 100 books of module 1, order 10 packets.)
 

  • Trainer's Kits - a set of materials for Life Skills Trainers. Order only the number of kits needed for those persons who will conduct training sessions.

    Each kit contains:
    • One set of trainer's manuals (modules 1-5).
    • One set of student skills books (modules 1-5).
    • One DVD for use with modules 1-4. Available in closed-caption format.
    • One CD with student activities.
    • One CD with Power Point presentations for all modules (for trainer use).

  • Graduate and Professional Skills Books and Interactive CDs - Additional modules that expand the financial literacy program by providing materials that focus on the unique needs of graduate and professional students and adult learners. These modules (6 and up) and minimodules build on the basic themes of the initial five modules of the financial literacy program.

All materials will be shipped via UPS Ground Service so a street address is required (no P.O. Boxes). Please order at least two weeks in advance to allow for delivery time.

A. Student Skills Books and Activity CDs - indicate quantity. (Books and CDs are sent in packets of 10; e.g., if you need 100 books, order 10 packets.)

Packets of Module 1 - "Get a Grip on Your Finances: Smart Spending for Students"
Packets of Module 2 - "Seek Our Financial Aid: Funding Resources and Financial Obligations"
Packets of Module 3 - "Work Hard But Smart: How to be Successful in School and Graduate on Time"
Packets of Module 4 - "Take Control of Your Future: Finishing School and Repaying Your Loans"
Packets of Module 5 - "Now That You Are About to Graduate: Taking Control of Your Life"
Packets of Student Activities CDs (Order one CD per student, in packets of 10.)

The following modules expand the financial literacy program by providing materials that focus on the unique needs of graduate and professional students and adult learners.
Packets of Module 6 - "Embrace New Academic Challenges - Drafting Your Professional Plan": Designed to assist students who are beginning graduate or professional program of study.
Packets of module 7 - "Connect as a Couple - Confronting Relationship Challenges Together": Helps married students and their partners manage the changes and challenges that come from being married while in school.
Packets of Module 8 - "Take Stock - Devising a Realistic Financial Plan": Helps graduate and professional students and adult learners live within their means, set limits on the amount they borrow, manage their student loans and develop personal budgets.
Packets of Module 9 - "Live Like a Student - Managing Your Funds": Offers graduate and professional students commonsense advice for minimizing their college debt by examining their spending habits, locating sources of financial aid that do not have to be repaid, and identifying the warning signs of excessive debt.

Minimodules
are interactive CDs that offer graduate and professional students tips for coping with the financial and academic challenges they will encounter. The CDs include interviews with graduate and professional students, exercises to help students manage expenses and save money and links to vital resources for graduate and professional students. (Order one CD per student.)
Minimodule 1 CD- "Reentering School- How do I adjust my standard of living?"
Minimodule 2 CD- "How do I survive during my residency?"
Minimodule 3 CD- "Couple Talk - How do we talk about money without conflict?"

B. Trainer's Kit - indicate quantity. (For use by trainers. Maximum of four kits per school.)

Each kit contains:

  • One set of trainer's manuals (modules 1-5).
  • One set of student skills books (modules 1-5).
  • One DVD for trainer use with the first four modules.
  • One CD with student activities.
  • One CD with PowerPoint presentations for each module (trainer use).
Module 6 Trainer's Kits. (Maximum of four kits per school.)

Each kit contains:

  • Module 6 trainer's manual.
  • Module 6 trainer's CD with PowerPoints, step-by-step training guide, content of student CD, and student feedback form.
Module 7 Trainer's Kits. (Maximum of four kits per school.)

Each kit contains a trainer's manual and CD.

Module 8 Trainer's Kits. (Maximum of four kits per school.)

Each kit contains a trainer's manual and CD.

Module 9 Trainer's Kits. (Maximum of four kits per school.)

Each kit contains a trainer's manual and CD.
