What is a Grad PLUS Loan?

As a result of the Higher Education Reconciliation Act of 2005 (HERA), graduate and professional students are now eligible to borrow under the Federal PLUS Loan Program.

Federal Grad PLUS loans have the same terms and conditions as Parent PLUS loans.

The maximum PLUS Loan amount you can borrow is your cost of attendance (determined by the school) minus any other financial assistance you will receive.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for a Grad PLUS loan if you are a graduate or professional student and you have a good credit history. A credit check will be performed to determine that you do not have an adverse credit history before approving the loan.

The school's financial aid office will determine if you are eligible to apply for a Grad PLUS loan.
