Michigan Tuition Grant

Student with a Globe

The Michigan Tuition Grant (MTG) was established in 1966, P.A. 313 to provide students with increased access and choice to attend Independent non-profit, degree-granting, Michigan postsecondary institutions.

MTG is available to undergraduate students and is based on financial need for use at Independent non-profit degree-granting colleges and universities in Michigan. Awards are restricted to the cost of tuition and fees.

Funds are appropriated annually in the Higher Education Appropriations Act. This program is administered by the Student Scholarships and Grants Division.

For 2011, over 22,269 students were awarded scholarships totaling $30.5 million dollars.

Additional information and eligibility requirements are on the MTG Fact Sheet.
