The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today issued an order approving $5.5 million in Michigan energy efficiency grants for all customer classes to three organizations.
"My fellow Commissioners and I are extremely pleased to announce these grants," said MPSC
Chairman Orjiakor Isiogu. "The grants awarded today will not only help the state promote and advance the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, but also strengthen the economy of the State, and provide opportunities for those who live and work in Michigan."
The Commission on February 13 issued a request for proposals for Michigan energy efficiency grants for all customer classes. Based on its review, the MPSC awarded the following grants:

Recycle Ann Arbor, doing business as Energy Works of Michigan- $3.5 million to conduct energy audits, install renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies consisting of wind and/or solar, and provide the associated curriculum at educational institutions statewide.

Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker Schools - $1 million
to implement energy audits, energy education, and renewable energy and energy efficiency installations at secondary technical schools.

Great Lakes Energy Service - $1 million to conduct energy audits, install renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, and provide the associated learning tools for educational institutions throughout the state.
The grants are part of the Low-Income and Energy Efficiency Fund, which provides energy bill assistance for low-income customers and promotes the efficient use of energy by all customer classes.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
