The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved the renewable energy credit sale agreement between Alpena Power Company and Consumers Energy Company.
On Aug. 10, the Alpena Power Company filed an application with the MPSC seeking approval of a contract with Consumers Energy Company that involves the provision of the bulk of renewable energy credits (RECs), as required by Public Act 295 of 2008.
Today's order notes the 20-year contract term provides Alpena Power Company customers with an adequate source of renewable energy credits for a reasonable time.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
