9-1-1 rulemaking: training standards

On June 24, 2008, members of the State 9-1-1 Committee met with Michigan Public Service Commission staff to request that the Commission begin the process of rulemaking on based on Section 413(1)(b) of the Emergency 9-1-1 Service Enabling Act.

Sec. 413(1) The commission may promulgate rules to establish 1 or more of the following:

  1. Uniform procedures, policies, and protocols governing 9-1-1 services in counties and PSAPs in this state.

  2. Standards for the training of PSAP personnel.

  3. Uniform procedures, policies, and standards for the receipt and expenditure of 9-1-1 funds under section 401a, 401b, 401c, 401d, 401e, 406, and 408.

  4. The requirements for multiline telephone systems under section 405.
