Wind is a rapidly growing source of renewable energy worldwide which continues to add diversity to our energy mix. Michigan has significant potential for energy from wind and ranks 14th in the nation among states with wind energy resources.

    Costs of Wind energy

New renewable generation costs have been significantly lower than anticipated and show a downward sloping pricing trend. This is evident with new wind farm contracts such as General Electric Company and Tuscola Bay Wind, LLC which came in at costs significantly less than estimated in Detroit Edison's Renewable Energy Plan.
