“Up to $8 million will be available for the upcoming heating season for low-income energy efficiency grants,” Michigan Public Service Commission Chair J. Peter Lark announced today.
The MPSC released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Low-Income Energy Efficiency grants. These grants are part of the Low-Income and Energy Efficiency Fund initially established by the Customer Choice and Electric Reliability Act of 2000 (Public Act 141), and continued by the Commission in a subsequent order. The purpose of the fund is to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption and expenditures for Michigan low-income residents.
“The MPSC is acting now to ensure that much-needed assistance is available to promote energy efficiency for Michigan’s low-income customers before the heating season begins,” said Lark.
The RFP and complete instructions on how to submit a proposal are located on the MPSC’s Web site in the “Spotlight” category: michigan.gov/mpsc.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
