MPSC Seeks Comments on Consumers Energy's Renewable Resource Plan

Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

October 4, 2004

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today), in an order issued on Oct. 4, said it is seeking public comment on Consumers Energy’s Renewable Resource Plan (RRP) for its customers.

Consumers Energy filed a proposal for a RRP on June 30, and interested persons were given until July 30 to submit written comments. Consumers Energy subsequently submitted a plan that included new information on transferring customers and suppliers from the company’s current Green Power Pilot Program to the RRP.

The MPSC is therefore seeking additional comments by Oct. 25 on the RRP from interested persons. Interested persons can check the Commission’s Web site at michigan.gov/mpsc in order to review the documents associated with Consumers Energy’s proposed program and to learn how to provide comments. All documents associated with this case are available on the Commission’s Web site, at http://efile.mpsc.cis.state.mi.us/cgi-bin/efile/viewcase.pl?casenum=13843. The Commission Order seeking additional comments may be viewed on the Commission’s Web site, at http://efile.mpsc.cis.state.mi.us/efile/docs/13843/0172.pdf. Consumers Energy Company’s application for the implementation of a renewable resources program may be viewed on the Commission’s Web site, at http://efile.mpsc.cis.state.mi.us/efile/docs/13843/0157.pdf.

The Commission has selected this case for participation in its Electronic Filings Program.

The Commission recognizes that some residential customers may not have the computer equipment or access to the Internet necessary to submit documents electronically. Therefore, residential customers may submit documents in the traditional paper format and mail them to the: Executive Secretary, Michigan Public Service Commission, 6545 Mercantile Way, P.O. Box 30221, Lansing, Michigan 48909.

Otherwise, all documents filed in this case must be submitted in both paper and electronic versions. An original and four paper copies and an electronic copy in the PDF should be filed with the Commission. Requirements and instructions for filing electronic documents can be found in the Electronic Filings Users Manual at: http://efile.mpsc.cis.state.mi.us/efile/usersmanual.pdf. The application for an account and letter of assurance are located at http://efile.mpsc.cis.state.mi.us/efile/help. You may contact Commission Staff at 517.241.6170 or by e-mail at mpscefilecases@michigan.gov with questions and to obtain access privileges prior to filing.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
