MPSC Suspends Effective Date of Michigan Movers Association Requested Rate
Increase, Sets Pre-Hearing Date
The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today suspended the Dec. 13 effective
date of the rate increase requested by the Michigan Movers Association. In addition,
the MPSC set a pre-hearing conference to allow MPSC to investigate whether the
proposed rates are just and reasonable.
The Michigan Movers Association on Oct. 27 filed an application in which it
proposed an increase in its rates for intrastate shipment of household goods
outside of the Detroit commercial zone by 12 percent, effective Dec. 13.
To allow the MPSC to investigate whether the proposed rate increase is justified,
the MPSC is postponing the effective date of the proposed tariff until Feb.
11, 2005. The pre-hearing conference on this matter is scheduled for 9 a.m.
on Dec. 14 at the Commission's office.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
