MPSC Approves Settlement Agreements Authorizing Power Supply Cost Recovery Refunds and Collection of Under-Collections for Five Electric Cooperatives, U-13113-R and U-13558-R

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved settlement agreements in two cases dealing with power supply cost recovery over-collections and under-collections from five electric cooperatives.

 

In Case No. U-13113-R, the MPSC authorized Cherryland Electric Cooperative, Great Lakes Energy Cooperative, HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative and Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op to refund their power supply cost recovery over-collections and to collect their power supply cost recovery under-collections for the 12-month period ended Dec. 31, 2002 as follows:

The cooperatives, which filed a joint application in this case on March 31, must file reports regarding the refund in accordance with their refund procedures, and they must file tariff sheets reflecting the Commission’s order.

 

 

Electric Co-op PSCR Proceedings

 

In Case No. U-13558-R, the MPSC approved a settlement agreement with Cloverland Electric Cooperative for its power supply cost recovery reconciliation proceeding for the 12-month period ended Dec. 31, 2003.  The cooperative filed its application in this case on March 31. 

 

The Commission approved the cooperative’s refund of $188,594 to its monthly member-consumers by applying a credit of $0.001978 per kilowatt-hour during the six billing months starting October 2004.  The MPSC also approved the cooperative’s refund of $22,810 to its seasonal member-consumers by applying a credit of $0.001051 per kilowatt-hour in the billing months of June 2005 through August 2005.  The cooperative must file tariff sheets with the Commission showing the actual refund factors, work papers showing the refund calculations and the General Ledger entries recording the amount refunded.  Any over-collected or under-collected amount of the credit shall be carried forward into the 2004 power supply cost recovery reconciliation proceedings.

 

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
