The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today issued an order determining that Consumers Energy Company incurred zero net stranded costs for 2004. The Commission also issued an order reconciling the utility’s 2004 power supply recovery (PSCR) costs.
In Case No. U-14526, the Commission found the utility’s net stranded costs to be zero, after revenue from wholesale power sales to third parties are used to off-set them. The MPSC also said it expects this order to conclude the series of stranded cost cases resulting from the restructuring of the electric system (Public Act 141).
In Case No. U-13917-R, the Commission directed Consumers Energy Company to return a $6,389,109 over-recovery to large commercial and industrial customers.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.
