MPSC Grants Alternative Gas Supplier License to Charlevoix Energy Trading, LLC

Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

December 12, 2006

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today granted Charlevoix Energy Trading, LLC a license as an alternative gas supplier (AGS).

The MPSC determined that the application is in the public interest and that by granting this request for a license, opportunities for competition may expand.

The Commission conditioned the license on compliance with all applicable provisions of Public Act 634 of 2002 and the Commission's orders and administrative rules. In addition, Charlevoix Energy Trading, LLC must provide service to customers within a reasonable time. Failure to comply with any of these provisions may result in revocation of the license or other penalties.

Charlevoix Energy Trading, LLC applied for a license on June 27, showing its compliance with the requirements for an alternative gas supplier under Public Act 634 and the Commission's order (U-13694), which established a licensing procedure for alternative gas suppliers.

The company is headquartered in Charlevoix , Mich.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Labor & Economic Growth.

Case No. U-14903
