The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement reducing the primary basic local exchange (PBLES) rate for Verizon North Inc. and Verizon North Systems by 80 cents per month. The rate change becomes effective for all PBLES customers on Sept. 1.
"This rate cut is great news for Verizon telephone customers, one that will positively affect their pocketbooks starting next month," noted MPSC Commissioner Monica Martinez. "Settlement agreements like this are the result of a lot of hard work, and I would like to thank the parties involved."
Participating in the settlement were Verizon North Inc., Verizon North Systems, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Attorney General and the MPSC staff.
The companies filed an application with the MPSC on May 24, 2007 , seeking approval of its PBLES rates.
